They say that ‘’hard work pays’’, and this proverb has eventually befallen Uganda Cranes number One, Denis Onyango. The Federation of Uganda Football Association announced on Wednesday 26 October 2016 that he is to be rewarded with a land a title.
For becoming the first Ugandan player the CAF Champions League gold medal, the local sports governing body, FUFA felt indebted that they should do something as a form of appreciation for the star. Following this, he is set to receive a land title on 12 November 2016 when Uganda Cranes play host to Congo Brazzaville in the 2018 World Cup Qualifier at Mandela National Stadium, Nambole.
The locality of the land title remains undisclosed to the media but people are already anticipating that it must be in one of the posh places around the city, talk of Munyonyo, Muyenga, Ntinda or one of the nice city’s out skirts.
The FUFA president, Moses Magogo, admits that the motive behind rewarding the man in between poles is to motivate the young talent to strive hard. He also added that it was a form of congratulating Onyango and his South African side, Mamelodi Sundowns.
It is no longer a doubt that Ugandan goal keeper, Denis Onyango has earned himself a spot at the table of men. On Sunday, 23 October 2016 Onyango became the first Ugandan player to be decorated with a CAF Champions League medal. This comes after Onyango’s South African side Mamelodi Sundowns beat Egyptian side Zamalek 3-1 on aggregate to be crowned the champions of Africa, their first ever.
