Nkumba and Gulu Universities are the last ones left in order to get the teams to play in the semi-finals of the Nile Special University Football League. These two are set to lock horns this Thursday afternoon, 20 October 2016 at 2; 00 pm in Nkumba University, Entebbe when the NSUFL quarter final return leg resumes.
Gulu University have a bad story to tell concerning their last visit to Nkumba. The up country based University was thrashed 3-0 and had nothing good to talk about the clash. Nkumba will be a bridge too far from Gulu as history favours them a thing that is very vital in football.
However a goalless draw in Gulu between the two teams gives the Northerners a ray of hope. This is basically on grounds that should the two teams end up in a draw involving goals, Gulu will clinch the semi-final spot on away goals rule.
There are currently three teams in the semi-finals spot and two of them qualified on away goals rule. Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi eliminated Uganda Christian University on away goal rule and so did Kampala University to Busitema University. Therefore such stories might make Gulu University go into the game aiming for a draw involving goals. Another thing is that should Gulu score first, Nkumba has to double the score in order to be on a safer side or else even levelling the game will see them pack their bags and wait for the next season.
