The Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) match on Saturday, 15 October 2016 between URA FC and Onduparaka FC was a disappointed to the Onduparaka fans. The match that was played at Mehta grounds in Lugazi ended 3-1 in favour of URA hence giving the Caterpillars’ fans haunting memories throughout the weekend.
Onduparaka started the match on a good note when skipper, Muhammad Shaban gave the visitors a lead at the 15th minute causing a very loud applause from the travelling fans. This was Shaban’s 6th goal of the season and his first away goal. However just six minutes before the break, URA levelled the game, thanks to Lwasa’s thriller.
At the 54th minute, hell broke loose for Onduparaka when Kigongo notched for the Tax Collectors. At the 84th minute, Onduparaka must have realised that they have lost the game when URA’s Kagimu made it 3-1.
I bet when the Onduparaka fans were aboard to Lugazi, they expected a thrilling performance from the Caterpillars but the reverse was true. This is due to a classy type of football they have been displaying especially at their home ground, Green Light stadium where they have been thrashing big teams like Police, Villa including champs, KCCA.
This defeat is now Onduparaka’s second for this season. However this win is URA’s second for the season and their first home win. The win has also given the Tax Collectors’ coach, Kefa Kisala some breathing after a long bad run which forced the management to develop second thoughts about his capabilities to sustain the team in the league.
