Vipers Football Club have revealed that they have got a shs632m sponsorship deal with Hima Cement, a company that manufactures cement. The sponsorship is to last for two years.
Vipers president Lawrence Mulindwa also the former FUFA president received a dummy cheque worth shs632m from Hima Cement commercial manager, Mr Patrick Mugenyi at Golf Course hotel, Kampala. The money will cover all club expenses like transportation ahead of their CAF confederation campaign in early 2017.
The Vipers kit dubbed with a Hima Cement logo at the front were unveiled just after the dummy cheque was handed over to Mulindwa. Mulindwa also revealed to the media that the sponsorship is a financial relief to Vipers FC. NTV’s Sam Mpoza asked Mulindwa the annual budget of Vipers but he declined to answer and so did his finance director, Mr Vincent Sajjabi.
Vipers were however advised by Hima officials to be accountable since football is a universal language. This was raised on grounds that many football teams fail to be accountable to their sponsors.
Vipers FC is now the fifth club to have shirt sponsors with the likes of BUL, Sadolin and URA who are sponsored by their own companies they play for. KCCA and SC Villa have deals with Star Times, Bright Stars have a deal with Lato Milk while League debutants Onduparaka have a deal with Betway.
