The English Premier League (EPL) match between Arsenal and Chelsea on Saturday, 24th September at Emirates stadium ended with a thrilling win for the gunners as they stunned former champions, Chelsea 3-0. This is Chelsea’s second successive defeat in the EPL just after dropping points against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on match day five.

Arsenal notched all the three goals just before the break through Alexis Sanchez (11), Theo Walcott (14), and Mesut Ozil (40). The Gunners to a man were more than brilliant due to their accuracy in ball passing especially at the mid field with the likes of Ozil, Walcott and Iwobi doing what they always do best.

This match attracted a lot of attention of football pundits like Sky Sports’ Peter Merson whose attention was drawn to recommend the Chelsea players on many grounds. All eyes were on Gary Cahill especially when discussing about the first goal. Cahill displayed a very sloppy style of play at half time and an amateur pundit can coincide with me basing on the fact that he knowingly gave out the ball to Sanchez. One would wonder what was on Cahill’s mind when he was doing that; whether he was really playing for the badge and the fans or whatever. It is not Cahill’s first mistake, he made almost the same mistake on match day four when he was out played by Swansea’s Fer hence giving Swansea a lead.

It is not only Cahill who is on the spotlight for a sloppy performance, Matic and Ivanovic too. In most cases when the Blues lose, you could see a comment ‘’ Ivanovic out’’ on various social media sites including Chelsea’s official pages. Most pundits always agree that the player who is doing all he can is N’Golo Kante, Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and sometimes Willian. This might imply that Conte has to change his starting XI with Mikel likely to be introduced to the starting line up in favour of Matic and Victor Moses also be given more playing time.

It now implies that in their 159 meetings in the Premier League, Arsenal has won 62, drawing 47 and losing 50 while Chelsea has won 50 drawing 47 and losing 62. In the last 5 meetings Chelsea has won 3, drawing 1 and losing 1 and Arsenal has won 1, drawn 1 and lost 3.

In other EPL match day six results; Liverpool 5-1 Hull, Man Utd 4-1 Leicester, Bournemouth 1-0 Everton, Middlesbrough 1-2 Tottenham, Stoke 1-1 West Brom Swansea 1-3 Man City, Sunderland 1-0 Crystal Palace.
