This Saturday, 10th-9-2016 all eyes are at Old Trafford as Jose Felix Mourinho and Pep Guardiola resume their rivalry during the first Manchester derby of the season. This clash does not only see the collision of the two fierce rivals but it also marks the resumption of the managerial duel between Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola. It’s no doubt that the clash is going to be fierce as both United and City have both had perfect starts to the Barclays premiere League season with each side winning all the three matches played so far.
This derby has come early this season, but none the less there is much more than bragging rights between Pep and Jose and football pundit, Dwight Yorke is more than very sure that it’s going to be an intense clash between the former Barcelona and Real Madrid managers. This game is to lay down a significant marker and a win on one of the teams may culminate a victor into topping the table but a draw might imply that the West London side, Chelsea might top the table in case they beat the struggling Swansea City on Sunday.
Manchester United are unbeaten in their last three games against Manchester City (winning 2 and drawing 1). The Red Devils have lost three of their last five league home meeting with Manchester City (won 15, drawn 12 lost 3). A victory for City will imply that they will clinch their 50th Manchester derby win in all competitions. United have recorded 70 wins and 51 draws. Jose Mourinho has won just three of his 16 meetings with Pep Guardiola, (drawing 6 and loosing 7). These results came in La Liga and Copa Del Rey with Real Madrid and Inter Milan. Manchester City won the last Manchester derby 4-1 in which both clubs had new managers, in September 2013 (David Moyes and Manuel pellegrini).
Manchester City is to play without their all-time goal machine, Sergio Kun Aguero. This has attracted the attention of football pundit and former red devil Dwight Yorke to believe that his former side hold an advantage to win this derby at the theatre of dreams. He also urged that United hold a home advantage ahead of this derby. He added that Wayne Rooney is bound to score despite a poor display at the world cup qualifier against Slovakia which the English men almost drew only being saved by Lallana’s late strike. Aguero’s position is likely to be filled with Iheanacho or Nolito.
Other Saturday fixtures include, Arsenal vs. Southampton, Bournemouth vs. West Brom, Burnley vs. Hull, Middlesbrough vs. Crystal Palace, Stoke city vs. Tottenham, West Ham vs. Watford and Liverpool vs. Leicester City, and on Sunday Swansea city will take the inform west London side, Chelsea while Sunderland will battle it out with Everton on Monday.
